SSC Steno Selection Process 2016 Exam Scheme

SSC- Stenographers (Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’) Exam 2016:
SSC will hold examination for the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted) on 31.07.2016. Here is SSC Steno Selection Process 2016.

Educational Qualification:

Must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Candidates should have skills in Stenography.

Age Limit:

18-27 years as on 01.08.2016 (Age relaxation as per prescribed rules).

Scheme of Examination:

The examination will consist of a Written Examination and Skill Test in stenography.

Written Examination (Objective multiple choice type):

The question paper contains 200 questions each of one mark.

General Intelligence & Reasoning (50  questions) – Part I

General Awareness (50  questions) – Part II

English Language and Comprehension (100  questions) – Part III

Duration of Exam:

Total Duration of Examination for General candidates – 2 Hours

Total Duration of Examination for Visually Handicapped candidates– 2 Hours 40 mins.

Medium of Examination:

The questions will be set in Hindi/English in respect of Parts I & II.

Negative Marking:

There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Skill test in Stenography:

The skill test will be of qualifying nature and the commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates.

The candidate will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/ Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’  and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter will have to be transmitted on computer only. The evaluation will be done electronically only. The time of transcription is as under:

Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 40 minutes (English) & 55 minutes (Hindi)

Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 50 minutes (English)  & 65 minutes (Hindi)

SSC Steno Selection Process 2016:

Candidates will be short listed for the skill test on the basis of their performance (qualifying marks) in the Written Examination. Candidates who qualify in the Skill Test will be recommended for appointment by the commission on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. Allocation of departments will be depend upon their merit position and option exercised by candidates.

Indicative Syllabus:

General Intelligence & Reasoning:

Questions will be both verbal and non-verbal type. Questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. Symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness:

General awareness of the environment and its application to society. Current events and matters of everyday observation and experience. Questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc.

English Language & Comprehension :

Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. writing ability.

  1. Sir, my name is there in the final list of stenographer recruitment grade C&D 2015 which was declared yesterday . Sir, I wanted to know if there are any more steps to be cleared in order that we are finally selected , and if not so then what should we do now after knowing the final result as there are no such notices given except for the final result . Kindly let me know this.

  2. As per select list, Commission recommended qualified candidates for appointment to the User Departments on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. Allocation of candidates will be made to User Departments depending upon their merit position and the option exercised by them. Hence, next exercise for appointment will be done by User Departments.

    1. Sir, thank you very much for this information ,I am posted to the ministry of road transport and highways .Kindly tell me is the job guaranteed for us or there still may be rejections by them? Will we get this job for sure?

      1. As per Para 13 (Mode of Selection) of Notification published by Commission, Candidates, who are appointed on the basis of this examination, shall be on probation for a period of two years. During the period of probation, the candidates would be required to undergo such training or pass such examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority. On successful completion of the period of probation, the candidates shall, if considered fit for permanent appointment, be confirmed to their post by the Controlling Authority.
