RRB Exam Pattern-Analysis

Pattern and Syllabus of JE, DMS, CMA, SSE and CDMS Examination:

Examinations conducted by various Railway Recruitment Boards for the posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent(DMS), Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMS), Senior Section Engineer (SSE) and  Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS).

Recruitment Process:

Recruitment process for the above posts is based on Single stage examination followed by verification of original documents. Selection will be made as per merit, on the basis of ONLINE (Computer Based) examination. The question papers shall be of Objective Multiple Choice Type(MCQ). The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages.

Standard of Questions:

The standard of questions for the Online Examination will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.




Educational Qualification for appearing in Examination:

(i) For the post of Senior Section Engineer (SSE) and  Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS):
-Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or a combination of any sub streams of core branches i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics etc.
(ii) For the post of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent(DMS):
– Three years Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or a combination of any sub streams of core branches i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics etc.

(iii) For the post of Junior Engineer (IT) :
-B.Tech(CS)/B.Tech(IT), PGDCA,/BSc(CS)/BCA/DPEACC/DOEACC’A’ level course of three years duration.
(iv) For the post of Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA):
– Degree in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering or MSc Degree in Chemistry.

Syllabus:

The questions will be objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to:

(i) General Awareness,

(ii) Arithmetic,

(iii) General Intelligence and Reasoning

(iv) General Science and Technical ability.

The question paper will have 150 questions, out of which 90 questions will be of Technical ability & General Science and 60 questions from General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning.  The technical portion of 90 questions shall cover basic concepts of Science and Engineering from all the branches/disciplines of educational qualification, prescribed for respective categories.

Indicative Syllabus for Technical Ability & General Science:

(i) For the post of Senior Section Engineer (SSE) and  Chief Depot Material Superintendent (CDMS):
-Basic concept of science (Class XII standard); Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computers, Environment & Pollution Control, Instrumentation & Measurement and Engineering Drawing/Graphics.
(ii) For the post of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent(DMS):
– Basic concept of science (Class X standard); Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computers, Environment & Pollution Control, Instrumentation & Measurement and Engineering Drawing/Graphics.

(iii) For the post of Junior Engineer (IT) :
-MS Office; Computer fundamentals & organization, C, C++ & Java language, Information system; DBMS; System programming; UNIX; SAD; Data & Network communication; Web technology & programming; Software Engineering; Environment & Pollution Control.
(iv) For the post of Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA):
-Basic concepts of Fuel;  Material Science; Polymers; Thermodynamics; Applied Chemistry; Computers; Instrumentation & Measurement; Environment & Pollution Control.

Note:There shall be negative marking in ONLINE examination and marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer @ 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question. 

Duration:

Duration of the examination will be 120 minutes.
